Terms of Use

1. Definitions

• "sumno", "we": the application and its operators.
• "you", "user": the individual who creates an account and uses the service.
• "plan": the contracted access level (Free or Pesquisador).
• "content": public paper data (via OpenAlex) and the summaries generated on demand.

2. Account

Your account is personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for keeping your email secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at dpo@sumno.com.br in case of unauthorized use.

Sign-in is by email link or code, without a password. sumno may terminate accounts that violate these terms, with prior notice whenever possible.

3. Plans and payment

The Free plan allows limited use as described on the pricing page. The Pesquisador plan is billed by Stripe monthly or yearly, as chosen at checkout.

Billing cycles renew automatically until cancellation. Price adjustments, if any, will be communicated at least 30 days in advance.

4. Cancellation

You can cancel at any time in My account, through the Stripe portal. Access to the contracted plan is kept until the end of the already-billed cycle, and the next charge is automatically cancelled.

5. Refunds

Monthly plan: full refund if requested within 7 days of the first charge, in compliance with art. 49 of the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code (right of withdrawal in distance purchases). After 7 days, the month already paid is not refunded, but access is kept until the end of the cycle.

Yearly plan: pro-rata refund within the first 30 days of the yearly charge. After 30 days, no refund, but access is kept until the end of the paid year.

Refund requests must be emailed to dpo@sumno.com.br and are processed within 5 business days via Stripe.

6. Acceptable use

By using sumno you agree to:

• Not access the service through bots, scrapers, or unauthorized automated tools.
• Not resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit AI-generated outputs without indicating their origin and respecting the rights of the original paper authors.
• Not use the service for illegal purposes or to violate third-party rights.
• Not attempt to circumvent usage limits, authentication, or security measures.

7. Intellectual property

sumno's code, brand, and visual identity remain sumno's property. You keep all rights over the data you add to the service (for example, your library items). AI-generated summaries are provided for your academic use, and citing the original papers according to the applicable norms (ABNT NBR 6023 and 10520) is your responsibility.

8. Limitation of liability

sumno is provided "as is". We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or absence of errors. AI-generated outputs may contain inaccuracies and do not replace critical reading of the primary sources. Academic decisions made based on sumno outputs are solely your responsibility.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, sumno's total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid in the last 12 months.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Relevant changes will be communicated by email at least 15 days in advance, with the option to cancel your subscription without penalty if you disagree.

10. Governing law and forum

These terms are governed by Brazilian law. The forum of the consumer's domicile is elected to settle any disputes, under art. 101, I, of the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code.
